Ausgrid were required to replace the existing Carrington zone substation on the corner of Hannell and Elizabeth Streets in Carrington and build their new station on vacant land at 73 Elizabeth Street, Tighes Hill in order to maintain a reliable electricity supply to customers in the area. The new substation was designed by architectural firm Schrieber Hamilton in conjunction with Ausgrid with the aim to create a modern structure that suits both the site and the substation’s engineering requirements as well as building code and safety standards.
